Deakin University Global Islamic Politics Researcher Professor Greg Barton says civilians stuck in the middle of the Israel-Hamas conflict are struggling to flee the northern #Gaza Strip.
“In this situation, the civilians are struggling to flee, and they can’t leave the Strip,” Professor Barton told Sky News #Australia.
“Many have gone to the southern side of the Strip as the Israelis (have) requested, but there are hundreds of thousands who haven’t been able to do that.
“There are many staff in hospitals who can’t move, medical staff who don’t want to leave them.
“It’s a nightmare situation, and for the long term, there will need to be some sort of just and durable political solution.”
