Chaos broke out at Melbourne's Mordialloc Beach on Tuesday afternoon when a gathering of hundreds of teenagers escalated into violent clashes around 4 PM, with fights, bottle-throwing, and intimidation forcing families to flee. Over 200 unruly youths swarmed the area, vandalising nearby stores and creating widespread panic in the car park and streets. Victoria Police deployed dozens of officers, including the Public Order Response Team, rushing more than 20 vehicles to the scene and using pepper spray to disperse the crowd, making several arrests.
A nearby supermarket was forced into lockdown for safety, trapping shoppers inside amid screams and fears of violence spilling over. No serious injuries were reported, but the tense situation lingered for hours before calm returned. Authorities are investigating the incident, believed to have been fueled by social media, as part of a pattern of summer youth gatherings turning disruptive at Melbourne beaches.
