the problem lies with interpretation. all religious texts, be it the torah, the bible, the quran or whatever are open-ended and non-specific. people can, and do, read into them and interpret parts to support their own views - they even use them as justification.

a good example is matthew

this line has been used as the justification for anti sematic attacks; people taking revenge against the ancestors of modern jews for the execution of christ.

another example is hitler; The only "value" in saying "hitler was christian" with an iconoclastic meaning for "christian" is as a tool of anti-christian propaganda towards the end of misleading people.

if somebody hates something, enough, they can interpret anything as justification to take any action they wish.

obviously i believe terrorism is wrong and cowardly. they know they are fighting a losing battle.
