Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha candidate for Hyderabad, Madhavi Latha lashed out at the police authorities on March 26 for arresting BJP Mahila Morcha candidates who came out in support of the victims following a clash between two groups on Holi.
Madhavi Latha said, "We all know about yesterday's violence...Police launched baton charge on women. As soon as Mahila Morcha president Shilpa Reddy came to know about it, she gathered all the women and went there to help them. Police launched lathi charge on them too...How were they brought to Keesara PS instead of Medipally PS?...They can unleash atrocity in SC/ST women and we can't even wipe off their tears? Is this democracy? This is no democracy. This is worse than British rule, worse than Aurangzeb rule - it seems both of them have joined each other here. This is 'razakar' rule, we want freedom from this...They are giving 2-bedroom flats to only Muslim -- that too only to those who are coming from outside...CM should react on this and immediately take action on the Police who have assaulted the women there..."
Earlier today, Telangana State BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest in Chengicherla stating that it's been 48 hours and no action has been taken by police. They demanded immediate action on the accused. The police took them into custody and took them to Keesara Police Station in Ghattkesar.
