Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has become the latest Labour figure to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, joining London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, who made the call earlier on Friday.

However, Sir Keir Starmer who has spent years stamping out antisemitism in the party, remains supportive of Israel in the war against Hamas, leaving the party divided.
